Industrial Cleaner Spray is the ideal solution for cleaning, degreasing, and removing adhesive residue, grease, oil, and more. Its citrus-based formula is free of chlorinated solvents or petroleum distillates and emulsifies perfectly upon contact with water.

It is particularly suitable for:

3M™ Industrial Cleaner or Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA): Which Should You Choose?

Although both are used for surface preparation, 3M™ Industrial Cleaner and isopropyl alcohol (IPA) have different functions and are often complementary rather than alternative.

Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) is ideal for final cleaning of surfaces before bonding. It evaporates quickly without leaving residue and is particularly suitable for removing dust, fingerprints, light contamination, and surface residue.

3M™ Industrial Cleaner, on the other hand, is formulated to remove more difficult contaminants such as adhesive residue, grease, oil, tar, wax, and industrial grime. Thanks to its high cleaning power, it is particularly suitable for heavily contaminated surfaces or when old glue residue needs to be removed.

To achieve maximum adhesion of industrial double-sided tapes, especially in demanding applications, the recommended procedure is:

1) Remove grease, old adhesives, and contamination with 3M™ Industrial Cleaner.

2) Perform a final surface clean with isopropyl alcohol (IPA) to remove any residue and promote optimal adhesion.

3) If required by the application or material type (e.g., polyethylene, polypropylene, or other low surface energy plastics), apply 3M™ Primer 94 before applying the tape.
